From NJHS Advisor, Mrs. QuekNJHS Food DriveHave you ever suffered from hunger for longer than a day? If so, you will understand the urgent need to help the poor and the homeless, especially during this Thanksgiving season.
The NJHS is sponsoring a food drive for the next three weeks and encourage you to show your compassion and support. All food collected will be donated to the River of Life, a Christian homeless shelter.
Here's how you can participate:
What to bring: Bags of rice; boxed pasta meals; canned food, especially those high in protein like SPAM, chili, corned beef, beef stew, chunky chicken soups, tuna, and salmon; peanut butter; juice.
When to bring it: Any day between now and Wednesday, November 25, but the sooner, the better!
Where to put it: an NJHS food drive box will be placed in every homeroom for your convenience.
Though virtue (goodness) is its own reward, the NJHS wants to offer an ice-cream treat to the homeroom that makes the greatest contribution to our food drive! Please help us help others!
From Athletic Director, Mr. Oshiro:1. All Fall Sport Athletes: If you have a school or program issued uniform, please launder bag and return it to the athletic office as soon as possible. Consumable items like t-shirts are yours to keep. Contact the athletic office if you have any questions.
2. All Winter Sport Athletes: Please remember that on most early release days there is no bus transportation provided for athletics. This Tuesday, November 3rd is an early release day and, as such, there will NOT be any bus transportation for athletics. Contact the athletic office if you have any questions.
3. All Students Age 16 and Older: We're looking for responsible, reliable and conscientious students to work as scorers and timers for ILH basketball games this upcoming winter season. The pay is $10.00 per game and the schedule is flexible. If you're interested, please come see Coach Keith or me in the athletic office as soon as possible. Experience is preferable but not essential.
4. All 7th-12th Graders: If you're interested in wrestling, conditioning is ongoing Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00-6:00 PM at the University High campus. Try outs begin Monday, November 23rd. On most regular schedule days, HBA will provide one-way bus transportation to the site, but you need to arrange your own rides home. Please check the bus schedule posted in the middle school snack bar, middle school homerooms or outside the athletic office for details. Contact the athletic office if you have any questions.
5. All 7th-12th Graders: If you're interested in swimming, try outs begin Monday, November 9th, from 4:00-6:00 PM at the Mid-Pacific Institute pool. On most regular schedule days, HBA will provide one-way bus transportation to the site, but you need to arrange your own rides home. Please check the bus schedule posted in the middle school snack bar, middle school homerooms or outside the athletic office for details. Contact the athletic office if you have any questions.
