It will be held in the Multi-Purpose Room at the Middle School campus on Sunday, May 2, 2009 from 2:00 to 4:00 o’clock in the afternoon. Your parents were sent an invitation last week and will send in a RSVP by April 24, 2009 if they are able to attend.

Class of 2014 – 7th Graders FLEX Program Registration 2009-10

➢    7th Graders had an opportunity to hear information regarding FLEX classes for next year during Friday, April 17th Assembly (Advisory Period) in the MPR. A sealed envelope is being sent home today with the random numbered registration form. Print your name immediately on the envelope. Please take it home and discuss it with your parents. If you lose your ranked form, another number will be issued but it will be higher than all of the numbers distributed.  Keep the form in a safe location. The completed form is due to the Front Office on May 1st, 3:45 p.m.

➢    Reminder: World Language FLEX courses fill both FLEX 1 and 2 class choices for the year. Classes will meet 4 times a week. Student performance will be graded on an A-F scale but will not be factored into the GPA.

If you are in a World Language currently, you must earn a passing placement test score and your current teacher’s approval for you to advance to Level 1B (second year) language course in your 8th grade year.

Note to Parents: The Optional FLEX Program at Hawaii Baptist Academy provides middle school students with the opportunity to explore special interest areas and to improve study skills. All courses are Pass/Fail except for World Language courses which are on an A-F scale. Student performance will be graded on an A-F scale but not be factored into the grade point average (GPA). A grade of F in any FLEX courses will eliminate a student from all honor rolls. HBA Student Handbook rules, procedures and signed agreement apply.  Please call me at 595-6302 or email to catta@hba.net if you have any questions.

All MS Students:
YESS System:  ABC BeAttitude Focus Be Persevering

Showing perseverance is:
•    Finding discipline within yourself, not just outside yourself. Not waiting to be told or reminded. Not giving up when the first thing goes wrong.
•    Holding your self accountable for meeting commitments. Asking for help when you need it. Finishing most projects you start. Be a joyful giver.
•    Setting goals and working toward them regularly. Giving 110% to all of your activities.
•    Living lives as a peacemaker. Getting rid of habits that don’t help me to live as God wished me to live with others; as children of God.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. (Matthew 5:9)

Reflect as you choose your actions and behavior this month at home, in school and in our community. We take care of ourselves, each other and this place.  See Mr. Lockridge’s invitation below to continue to Persevere, he says “Come to the Middle School MPR for a time of food and worship. This event will start at 6:00pm and end at 7:30pm.”

the ABCs of the YESS System:
ABC BeAttitude
You choose your…Attitude.
You choose your…Behavior.
You reap the results in Celebration or Consequence.
Your Choices build your Character.

Ask your friends for help to persevere; to be your best self as Pythagoras said
Friends are as companions on a journey, who ought to aid each other to persevere in the road to a happier life.

From the Registrar, Mrs. Archpru:
➢    Grade Corrections: Grade corrections to report cards have been completed and revised report cards will be mailed to you. Honor Roll information is being double-checked and announcements and revised Honor Roll Updated List are expected to be delayed for distribution in the 4/27 Bulletin. Thank you for your patience.
