2.    We need your help to brainstorm new ideas for our annual FUN FAIR.  Come to the Parent-Teacher-Faculty (PTF) Town Hall Meeting on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 in the Middle School Multi-purpose Room from 4:00-6:00 pm.   Please join us--we need you.  {Mrs. Hirae/Mrs. Lee}

3.    Please continue to submit your written and artistic pieces for this year's Literary Magazine.  This month's theme is Thanksgiving, New Beginnings, and Adventure.  When submitting pieces, consider these themes or create one of your own.   Submit your entries to either your English teacher or Mr. Honzaki in Room 300B.

4.    To All Cross Country Runners: The school would like a short clip of the team for a promotional video.  Meet on Wednesday in front of the umbrellas at 3:00 pm.  {Mr. Mukai}

5.    Cross Country Runners:  Please return your uniforms to Mr. Mukai or Mr. Coryell.  Be sure to place your laundered uniform in a ziploc bag with your name on the bag.  {Mr. Mukai}

6.    CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS:
a.    Student Council. Homeroom Representatives:   We will have a meeting tomorrow (Tuesday,

b.    Hawaiian Club.  Aloha Hawaiian Club Members:  If you are interested in the Ala Moana Beach
clean up this Saturday, October 31st from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. please come to Room 106 to get a field-trip form.  This Service Project is on a first come/first serve basis.  The limit is 20 students.  Mahalo-- Ms. Chong

7.    FROM THE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR (Mr. Oshiro):
a.    All Students:  Get out and support your classmates at their Hawaii state championship tournaments this week!  The boys varsity bowling team will be competing at the Schofield Bowling Center on Thursday and Friday.  The girls varsity volleyball team will be competing at Farrington HS on Thursday and Friday at 7:00 PM...and hopefully at the UH Stan Sheriff Center on Saturday.  Beginning Tuesday, you can check the athletics page of the school website (www.hba.net) for details.  Contact the athletic office if you have questions.  Let's show our school spirit and pride as we support our teams...HBA Pride - GO EAGLES! 

b.    All Fall Sport Athletes:  If you have a school or program issued uniform, please launder, bag and return it to the athletic office as soon as possible.  Consumable items like t-shirts are yours to keep.  Contact the athletic office if you have any questions.

c.    All 7th-12th Graders:  If you're interested in wrestling, conditioning is ongoing Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00-6:00 PM at the University High campus.  Try outs begin Monday, November 23rd.  On most regular schedule days, HBA will provide one-way bus transportation to the site, but you need to arrange your own rides home.  Please check the bus schedule posted in the middle school snack bar, middle school homerooms or outside the athletic office for details.  Contact the athletic office if you have any questions. 

d.    All 7th-12th Graders:  If you're interested in swimming, tryouts begin Monday, November 9th, from 4:00-6:00 PM at the Mid-Pacific Institute pool.  On most regular schedule days, HBA will provide one-way bus transportation to the site, but you need to arrange your own rides home.  Please check the bus schedule posted in the middle school snack bar, middle school homerooms or outside the athletic office for details.  Contact the athletic office if you have any questions. 

e.    All 9th-12th Graders:  If you're interested in canoe paddling, conditioning is ongoing Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 4:00-6:00 PM at the Ala Wai Canal.  Try outs begin Monday, November 3rd from 4:00-6:00 at the same site.  On most regular schedule days, HBA will provide one-way bus transportation to the site, but you need to arrange your own rides home.  Please check the bus schedule posted in the middle school snack bar, middle school homerooms or outside the athletic office for details.  Contact the athletic office if you have any questions. 

f.    All Students Age 16 and Older:  We're looking for responsible, reliable and conscientious students to work as scorers and timers for ILH basketball games this upcoming winter season.  The pay is $10.00 per game and the schedule is flexible.  If you're interested, please come see Coach Keith or me in the athletic office as soon as possible.  Experience is preferable but not essential. 

g.    All 7th-11th Grade Boys:  If you're interested in playing intermediate or junior varsity basketball, try outs begin today, Monday, October 26th from 3:00-5:00 PM in the gym.  You need to have a valid Student Health Record (yellow card) and a signed Athletic Handbook Agreement Form submitted in order to participate.  All 10th-11th graders who did NOT play varsity last season are required to turn out for this try out.  Contact the athletic office if you have any questions. 

h.    All 7th-11th Grade Boys:  If you're interested in playing intermediate or junior varsity soccer, try outs begin today, Monday, October 26th from 4:00-6:15 PM at Kapiolani Park (fields 1 and 2).  You need to have a valid Student Health Record (yellow card) and a signed Athletic Handbook Agreement Form submitted in order to participate.  All 10th-11th graders who did NOT play varsity last season are required to turn out for this try out.  On most regular schedule days, HBA will provide one-way bus transportation to the site, but you need to arrange your own rides home.  Please check the bus schedule posted in the middle school snack bar, middle school homerooms or outside the athletic office for details.  Contact the athletic office if you have any questions. 

12th GRADE:
1.    Seniors: Please turn in your Senior Parting Words by Friday-- bring your instruction sheet with you.  If you lost the sheet, go to the Learning Center to make copies.  {Mr. Honzaki}

2.    Seniors: Friday is the deadline for the yearbook cover upgrade.  Submit your order form with $7.50 check to Room 300B.  {Mr. Honzaki}
