9th-12th GRADES:                             

1.    Registration folders are due as follows:  Freshmen - Wed., 2/10, Sophomores - Thurs., 2/11, and Juniors - Fri., 2/12.  There is a late registration fee for folders turned in after these deadlines.  {Mrs. Smith}

2.    Our Summer School 2010 schedule has been posted on HBA's website.  The catalog will be online on April 5; no hardcopies will be distributed as of this year.  Registration forms will still need to be mailed or walked in.

3.    Chinese New Year Celebration at HBA!  The Chinese New Year falls on Sunday, February 14th this year.  To celebrate this occasion, we are having the Lung Kong Physical Culture Club perform a traditional Lion Dance this Friday, the 12th of February.  HBA students and outside club members will perform.  Please come and celebrate after school this Friday in the courtyard by the Senior area from 3:00-4:00 p.m.  Thank you!  {Ms. Chong}

4.    Student Council Homeroom Representatives: We have a meeting this week Tuesday, February 9.  Thank You.  {Student Council Corresponding Secretary/Mr. Traughber]

5.    Calling all dancers and those who have the urge to dance! If this describes you, take a chance and join HBA's newest club, the Hip-hop club! All levels welcome!  We will be having a short informational meeting on Monday, February 8th at lunch in Room 102.  See Logan Nishihara or Mr. Frontiera if you have any questions.

6.    Are you interested in expanding your athletic potential?  Are you interested in performing in a biathlon to do so?  If you are, there will be a meeting in Room 107 during lunch on Thursday.  {Mr. Stevens}

7.    May Day Announcements {Ms. Chong}: 
a.    Wahine girls dance practice is continuing every Wed. during lunch in C3, Ms. McGinnis' room.  If you are unable to attend, there are DVD's of the dances in the library to rent over night! 
b.    May Day court members, please report to Ms. Chong's room Wed, during lunch for a meeting to go over responsibilities. 

8.    FROM MR. OSHIRO, Athletic Director:
a.    All Students:  If you're interested in trying out for a spring sport, please note the flyers posted around campus.  The information is also posted on the athletics page of the school website:  www.hba.net  Contact me in the athletic office (564-0327) or via e-mail at doshiro@hba.net if you or your parents have any questions.
b.    All Varsity Athletes:  Please come sign up and pick up your varsity jacket from the athletic office if you are either a first-year varsity participant OR did not receive your jacket last year.  These are courtesy of the HBA Athletic Booster Club and are approved for wear on campus.
c.    All Winter Sport Athletes:  If your season has finished, please launder, bag and return your school
issued uniforms to the athletic office as soon as possible.  Consumable items like t-shirts and undergarments are yours to keep.  Everything else must be returned.
d.    All Students:  If you're interested in trying out for a spring sport, please sign up as soon as
possible...9th-12th graders in the athletic office, 7th-8th graders with Mrs. Matsushima in the MS principal's office.  We need to check that your student health record and athletic handbook agreement form are current and on file.  We're also trying to make transportation plans for various sports.
e.    All 7th-12th Grade Boys:  Tryouts for boys volleyball begin today, February 8th.  7th-8th graders should report to the middle school courts for a 3:00-5:00 PM practice.  9th-12th graders should report to the gym for a 4:30-6:30 PM practice.
f.    All 7th-12th Grade Girls:  Tryouts for softball begin today, February 8th.  Practices will be from 4:00-6:00 PM at the Ala Wai Neighborhood Park softball field.  There will be one-way transportation provided on regular schedule school days.  See the bus schedule posted in middle school homerooms, in the middle school snack bar, or outside the athletic office.  Contact me if you have any questions.
g.    All 7th-12th Graders:  Tryouts for track and field begin today, February 8th.  Practice today will be from 4:00-6:00 PM at Kapiolani Park.  Please check with coaches for subsequent practices.  There will be one-way transportation provided on regular schedule school days.  See the bus schedule posted in middle school homerooms, in the middle school snack bar, or outside the athletic office.  Contact me if you have any questions. 

9th-11th GRADES:  Restricted course sign ups will be held in the breezeway during lunch this Wednesday.  Teachers will be available to approve your course selections at that time.  {Mrs. Hirae}

10th-11th GRADES:  How do cops track down criminals using science?  If you will be a junior or senior next year in need of a science elective course, Forensics may be the course for you.  If you are at all interested in taking Forensics next year, Mr. Yasutomi will be having an "Open House" this Tuesday during lunch in Room 403.

11th-12th GRADES:  Hey Juniors and Seniors, the 2010 Spring Prom is almost upon us!  This year’s theme is “I’ll be There.” Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy good food and an opportunity to show off your date.  Prom will be held at the Koolau Country Club and tickets are selling for $50.00. Ticket sales will be held in the mall area beginning Thursday February 11 till Friday February 19 the following week.  Bring a check payable to HBA with your completed and signed agreement form when purchasing tickets.   Agreement forms are located in the Library, Counseling Office, and online at hba.net.  {Mrs. Nakano}
