9th-12th GRADES:

1.    Admissions Office:  We will be conducting interviews for applicants to HBA for the 2010-11 school year on Saturday, Jan. 30, Feb. 13, & Feb. 27.  If you should be on campus, please show our visitors your warm welcome.  Thank you, Mrs. Lee.

2.    *Mark your calendars! Our annual Poetry Out Loud competition is coming up on Friday, February 5, at 3:00 in Room C3. Please drop by Room C3 to choose a poem, or visit poetryoutloud.org. The website also has audio samples and video clips of past national winners. If you have any questions, see Ms. McGinnis (Room C3) or
Mrs. Takushi (Room 200).

3.    FROM MR. OSHIRO, ATHLETIC DIRECTOR:
a.    All Students:  If you're interested in trying out for a spring sport, please note the flyers posted around campus.  The information is also posted on the athletics page of the school website:  www.hba.net  Contact me in the athletic office (564-0327) or via e-mail at doshiro@hba.net if you or your parents have any questions. 

b.    All Varsity Athletes:  Please come sign up and pick up your varsity jacket from the athletic office if you are either a first-year varsity participant OR did not receive your jacket last year.  These are courtesy of the HBA Athletic Booster Club and are approved for wear on campus. 

c.    All Winter Sport Athletes:  If your season has finished, please launder, bag and return your school issued uniforms to the athletic office as soon as possible.  Consumable items like t-shirts and undergarments are yours to keep.  Everything else must be returned. 

d.    All Students:  It's Homecoming Spirit Week!   Let's pack the gym this Friday night to support our girls and boys varsity basketball teams and show our school spirit and pride!  The girls take on La Pietra at 5:30 PM, followed by the boys against Island Pacific at 7:00 PM.  Wear your HBA spirit shirts, athletic t's or anything black and gold and come out and enjoy the fellowship and FREE food courtesy of the HBA Athletic Booster Club.  GO EAGLES!!

e.    All Students:  Congratulations to our boys and girls intermediate tennis teams for winning their respective ILH Division II Championships this season!  This is the first-ever title for the boys, who finished with a 7-3 record against Division I and II teams.  Along the way they defeated Iolani for the first time!  The girls, who finished 10-2, have won several titles in the past.  However, this year they also defeated Punahou...the first time any small school has ever defeated the Buffanblu in girls tennis.  Congratulations to all of our intermediate tennis players and coaches! 

f.    All Students:  If you're interested in trying out for a spring sport, please sign up as soon as possible...9th-12th graders in the athletic office, 7th-8th graders with Mrs. Matsushima in the MS principal's office.  We need to check that your student health record and athletic handbook agreement form are current and on file.  We're also trying to make transportation plans for various sports.  Thanks, Mr. Oshiro

*10th & 11th GRADES:  Attention Sophomores and Juniors. Do you need extra spending money for the weekend, an iphone, or a car?  The After School Enrichment Program (ASEP) at HBA's Elementary campus is looking for energetic, enthusiastic, responsible leaders who are willing to work with K-6 graders 5 days a week. 11th & 12th GRADES:  LAST CHANCE TO ORDER JOSTENS GRADUATION PRODUCTS OR CLASS RINGS!  Jostens will be here this Friday during lunch, in the mall area to address all exchanges, adjustments, and reorders.  Come to the Counseling Center if you have any questions.  {Mrs. Goya}
