*=Repeat Announcements 9th-12th Grades: - There will be a CPR class for HBA students that will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2009, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon in the Middle School Multi-Purpose Room. The class will be taught by a certified instructor and students will receive CPR certification upon completion. Course fees will be waived for HBA students (i.e. FREE). If you are interested in taking this class, please see Mr. Namba for more sign-up information. The class size is limited and will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. {Mr. Namba}
- From Mr. Kaneshiro (Art): Please help us in recycling and collecting the following items for the High School Art Department throughout the year:
- Prescription bottles and diabetic lancet containers (peel labels for privacy)
- Photo film canisters (please ask for more at the place you have your film developed)
- Baby jars (glass not the new plastic ones)
- Yogurt containers (wide mouth not the upside down type)
- Glass & plastic jars (wide mouth)
- Newspapers (please, no half sheet ads or inserts)
- From Christian Ministries {Mrs. Gruspe}:
- You should be filling out your CEW registration forms TODAY in homeroom.
- Servant Group Meeting Wed., Feb. 4th, during lunch in the band room. For those who are going
to City of Joy, make sure you have turned in a permission form.
- Hawaiian Club: If you are interested in attending the Taro patch/ice ponds Service Project this Saturday, February 7th, please come and get a waiver form from Ms. Chong. You may not attend the service project without your parents’ permission. Waiver forms are ready for pick-up today! The service project is from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. {Ms. Chong}
- NHS Members: We will be having a meeting this Tuesday at lunch. Please remember to be on time! Thank you and we look forward to seeing you there! {NHS Corresponding Secretary/Mrs. Nakano}
- Admissions Office: We will be conducting interviews for applicants to HBA for the 2009-10 school year on Saturday, Feb. 7, Feb. 21, & Mar. 7. If you should be on campus, please show our visitors your warm welcome. Thank you, Mrs. Lee
- From the Athletic Director (Mr. Oshiro):
- All Winter Sport Athletes: Once your season is completed, please launder, bag and label your school issued uniforms and return to the athletic office.
- All Students: If you're interested in a spring sport, please take note of the REVISED try out information posted around campus and online on the athletics page of the school website. Conditioning for some sports is ongoing and tryouts for some sports will begin in the next two weeks. Please come to the athletic office if you have any questions.
- All Students: If you're interested in trying out for track and field (all levels) or softball (intermediate only), tryouts begin next Monday, February 9th at Kapiolani Park. If you need a ride to the course, please meet the bus near the grassy area of the middle school by 3:00 PM. Be sure to arrange for your own transportation home from Kapiolani Park at 6:00 PM.
- All 9th-12th Grade Boys: If you're interested in jv and varsity baseball, tryouts begin today, February 2nd at University High from 4:00-6:00 PM. If you need a ride to UHS, please meet the bus near the grassy area of the middle school by 3:00 PM. Be sure to arrange for your own transportation home from ALA WAI FIELD at 6:15 PM (PRACTICE WILL BEGIN AT UHS, BUT END AT ALA WAI).
- All Students: If you're interested in judo, tryouts begin today, February 2nd at University High from 4:00-6:00 PM. If you need a ride to UHS, please meet the bus near the grassy area of the middle school by 3:00 PM. Be sure to arrange for your own transportation home from UHS at 6:00 PM.
- All 9th-12th Graders: If you're interested in varsity tennis, tryouts begin today, February 2nd from 3:45-6:00 PM at the Ala Pu'umalu Park Tennis Courts. If you need a ride to the courts, meet the HBA bus outside the athletic office by 3:15 PM. Be sure to arrange for your own transportation home from the courts.
- All Students: If you're interested in jv and varsity golf or boys volleyball, try outs begin next week. See try out information posted around campus on the athletics page of the school website.
- All 7th-11th Grade Girls: If you're interested in intermediate and jv softball, tryouts begin today, February 2nd at University High from 4:00-6:00 PM. If you need a ride to UHS, please meet the bus near the grassy area of the middle school by 3:00 PM. Be sure to arrange for your own transportation home from UHS at 6:00 PM. Thanks, Mr. Oshiro.
9th-11th Grades: J.A.M. leaders, we will have a short meeting after school on Tuesday in Room 108. {Mrs. Gruspe}
10th Grade: If you are going to camp, but will need to leave camp early due to athletics or other reasons, make sure you have turned in a time away form. {Mrs. Gruspe} 11th-12th Grades: - Juniors and Seniors-This year's Jr. Sr. banquet will be held on Monday March 23rd at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Tickets will be available the week of February 17-27 in the mall area. Tickets are $48.00-checks made payable to HBA. This year, ticket contracts can be downloaded from the HBA website (www.hba.net) under the Student Life/High School section. Please note that there is only one form for both HBA and non-HBA guests, and only the second page of the contract needs to be printed. {Mr. Yokotake}
- Student Counselors: There will be a 10th grade camp counselor's meeting on Friday, during lunch in
Room 108. Please get your grade checks done and turn in your registration forms by tomorrow. {Mrs. Gruspe}
