- 4Qtr, SY2007-2008 Honor Roll / Gold Club Lunch & Dessert Coupons. Be sure to use your lunch and dessert coupons! The cafeteria will not honor them after TODAY.
- Course Withdrawals
- In accordance with the page 115 of the HBA handbook, withdrawal from courses beginning today will result in a “W” (withdrawal) grade which will be reflected on the 1Qtr and 2Qtr report cards as well as on transcripts.
- After August 29th, withdrawal from a course will result in a “WF” (withdrawal failure) grade which will be reflected on the 1Qtr and 2Qtr report cards as well as on transcripts. If the course is a two-semester course, the “W” grade will be reflected on the 3Qtr and 4Qtr report cards as well as on transcripts.
- Reminder to students: The school dress code is enforced from the time you arrive at school. There have been several incidences where students are wearing slippers before school starts. Once you are on campus in the morning (as soon as you leave your car or set foot on campus), you should be in dress code. Thanks for your cooperation! {Mr. Namba}
- Your signed "AGREEMENT TO FOLLOW THE HAWAII BAPTIST ACADEMY STUDENT HANDBOOK" was due to your HR teacher on Thursday, August 14. Beginning Tues., Sept. 2, demerits and/or detention will be issued to students who do not turn in their signed forms. Use of the Internet: Please be sure your parent notifies the Principal in writing only if you are NOT allowed access to the Internet while in school. {Mr. Namba/Mrs. Hirae}
- FROM MR. OSHIRO (Athletic Director):
- All Students: The annual HBA Athletic Booster Club Breakfast is this upcoming Saturday! Come enjoy FREE breakfast and good fun and fellowship August 23rd here at the HBA cafeteria at 8:30 AM. There will be a UH athlete here to speak to us and this event is always a great way to kick off the school year. Come see me at the athletic office if you have any questions.
- All Students: If you're playing sports, please remember to check the transportation information DAILY for any changes or adjustments to the schedule. For 7th-8th graders, your place is on the bulletin board in the MS snack bar or in Mrs. Matsushima's office. For 9th-12th graders, your place is on the dry erase board outside the athletic office.
- All 9th-12th Grade Boys: If you're interested in playing basketball, please attend a mandatory meeting on Thursday, August 21, at 3:20 p.m. in the cafeteria. If you are unable to attend, please see Keith Sugiura in the athletic office. We will be discussing information pertaining to the upcoming season as well as our preseason strength and conditioning program.
- All 9th-12th Grade Girls: If you're interested in playing basketball, please come out to preseason strength and conditioning. The program will begin on Tuesday, August 26, from 3:30 to 5:30 PM and continue every Tuesday and Thursday at the same time. There will also be Saturday sessions with times TBA. Come to the athletic office if you have any questions.
- FROM CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES (Mrs. Gruspe):
- Servant Group Camp: If you are going to servant group camp, you are responsible to see your teacher for any classwork that you will be missing while you are at camp. During Camp, there may be an opportunity for hula dancers to share their hula as we minister in the community, so please pack your hula gear if you want to take part in this.
- Please remember that this Wednesday is the last day to bring in items for the Waianae homeless shelter. Items needed are deodorant, toothpaste and feminine products.
- Chapel Thursday is a joint chapel...Servant Group please come to the gym in the morning to help set up and plan on staying after to help clean up. Thank You!
- Hawaiian Club: Aloha to all Hawaiian Club members. Ready for an awesome new year?! There will be a mandatory Hawaiian Club meeting this Wed. August 20. Please meet by the stream during lunch. We will be discussing upcoming activities and fundraising. Anyone who is not in Hawaiian Club, but is interested, please feel free to stop by. Mahalo nui loa! Ms. Chong
- Math League: If you are interested in participating in Math League this year, come to an informational meeting at lunch this Wed., August 18 in Rm. 304. If you cannot make the meeting, see Mr. Taketa in Room 304.
- Interact Club and anyone interested: The Interact Club meeting has been changed to next week Friday (8/29) during lunch due to Servant Group camp. We will be meeting outside the D buildings on the lawn and not in Room C-102. Please bring your $10 fees ASAP. They are due September 5th. {Mrs. Goya}
- *Six students are starting a new chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes to bring athletes at HBA together to fellowship and strengthen their relationship with God while having a sports focus. The first informational meeting will be on Monday, August 18th in the gym during lunch. All high school grade levels are welcome along with anyone who either plays or just loves sports. There will be free pizza for the first meeting so come early! Bring your friends to check it out! {Mr. Namba}
GRADE 9-11: - The underclassmen yearbook photo Make-up Session will be held Friday, Aug. 29 in the Mall Conference Room. Please take your photo on your own time between 7:30-the end of lunch. If you have a Guided Study during periods A-E, you may use this period to take your photo (be sure to ask for a pass first). {Mr. Honzaki}
- If you're interested in junior varsity tennis, tryouts begin Monday, August 18th from 3:45-6:00 PM at the Ala Pu'umalu Park tennis courts in Salt Lake. Please meet outside the athletic office by 3:00 PM for one-way transportation to the site. You will need to arrange your own transportation home. Thanks, Mr. Oshiro
GRADE 10-12: Citizenship Coupons for the 4th quarter were distributed by homeroom teachers to students who received an "A" for citizenship. Please use your coupon in the Snack Bar by Tues., August 19. {Mr. Namba} GRADE 12: - You have two more weeks to submit your Senior Quote for this year's yearbook. If you misplaced your Senior Quote sheet, you may request a replacement in room 300B. They are due Friday August 29, no later than 3:00 pm in Room 300B. Don't miss out! {Mr. Honzaki}
- Seniors: Let’s get this year started on the right foot! Come to Senior class Bible study on Thursday at lunch in Ms. Chong’s room (106). If you can, bring home lunch since we’ll be starting quickly. See you there! {Mr. Traughber}
