GRADES 9-12: *=Repeat Announcements- FROM THE VICE-PRINCIPAL (Mr. Namba): Remember that your yearbook can be out only at non-class times. Any yearbook that is out when a class is in session will be confiscated by the teacher and taken to the Vice Principal's Office by 3:30 p.m. The yearbook will be kept for 7 days. A repeat offense will result in harsher consequences.
- To all May Day participants! Please come and enjoy one last celebration lunch pa'ina (party) in Ms. Chong's room Friday, May 16 during lunch in Room 106. This includes the court, musicians, teachers, dancers and all involved with May Day. Thank you very much! {Ms. K. Chong}
- Hawaiian Club: Last meeting for all Hawaiian Club members on Tuesday, May 13 during lunch in Ms. Chong's room (106). We will be discussing next year’s activities and reflect on this year. Certificates will also be handed out for Service work. Mahalo Nui Loa, Ms. K. Chong.
- Library Books: All books borrowed from the library are due on or before Friday, May 16. Be sure to pay all overdue fines and lost book fees by this date as well. Students with outstanding accounts after May 16 will receive demerits and detention hours. {Mrs. Huster)
- FROM CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES (Mrs. Gruspe):
- We are in need of servant group students who love children and would like to help watch children during HBA's Hoolaulea. We will be watching children for a few hours on Friday, July 11th at HBA's middle school. Please come and see Mrs. Gruspe to sign-up.
- Servant Group: If you would like to help with Jesus Loves You, North Shore, please come by Mr. Lockridge's or Mrs. Gruspe's room to pick up a form.
- If you would like to be part of servant group next year, as a returnee, or as a new member, please pick up an application form from Christian Ministries.
- FROM THE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR (Mr. Oshiro):
- All Students: Get out and cheer on the boys varsity volleyball team this Thursday, May 15th at the HHSAA State Volleyball Championships! The site, time and opponent are all TBA. Look for flyers with match information in the next couple of days. Turn out and make some noise for our boys! The team will continue to play through Saturday if they advance in the tournament. HBA Pride...GO EAGLES!
- All Students: Get out and cheer on the Pac-5 girls varsity softball team this Wednesday or Thursday, May 14th or 15th at the HHSAA State Softball Championships out at Central Oahu Regional Park! The date, time and opponent are all TBA. Look for flyers with game information in the next couple of days. The team will continue to play through Saturday's championship at UH Rainbow Wahine Stadium if they advance in the tournament.
- All Spring Sport Athletes: If your season has been completed, please launder and return your uniform to the athletic office as soon as possible. Thanks, Mr. Oshiro
- All Varsity Athletes: Please turn in your reservation forms and payment for the Varsity Athletic Banquet to the athletic office as soon as possible. If you did not receive a form, come pick one up in the athletic office. And remember that you need to attend to receive your awards and your varsity jacket. GRADE 9-11: - You are responsible to turn in all your rental textbooks no later than your final exam dates. Be sure to follow your teachers’ instructions on how to turn in your books. Turn in all late books to the library not to your teacher. A lost book fee will be assessed if your book is not returned. Damaged books are subject to fee. A letter about the lost or damaged books will be sent home to your parents. {Mrs. Hirae}
- All 9th-11th Graders: If you're interested in participating in basketball, volleyball, cross country, football, or baseball, please pick up a summer schedule from the athletic office. The information will also be posted on our school website: www.hba.net Thanks, Mr. Oshiro
GRADES 10-12: *HBA Students 16 years and older: Here's your final chance to work in a great environment and make a difference in someone's life. The After School Enrichment Program (ASEP) at HBA's Elementary campus is looking for energetic, enthusiastic, responsible leaders who are willing to work with K-6th graders during our Summer Programs ( June 9- July 18). Pay starts at $7.25/hr. Call Mr. Chang at 533-1106 or email craigchang@hba.net for more information. GRADES 10-11: - 2008-09 AP Students - You may go to the HBA website (www.hba.net) to order AP books for the next school year. The 2008-09 books are now posted. {Mrs. Archpru}
- AP BIOLOGY STUDENTS 2008-2009: All 2008-2009 AP Biology students meet in Room 402 next Monday, May 19th during the first 10 minutes of lunch. You will pick up packets and get your summer assignments. If you cannot attend, you MUST come in to get your packet on your own time. Thank you, Mrs. Martin.
GRADE 12: Senior boys' hair needs to conform to the student handbook for graduation. The handbook reads that hair needs to be modestly/conservatively styled, neatly groomed and well-trimmed; not touching eyebrows, no longer than the top of the collar in the back, and not covering more than half of the ear. No shaved heads are allowed. Highlights must be blended to one's natural hair without bold contrast. Frosted or streaked hair in contrasting colors/shades is not allowed. Facial hair must be clean shaven, mustaches neatly trimmed and sideburns no longer than the bottom of the ear. Beards for students are not appropriate. If senior boys are not in compliance by the last day of senior exams, parents will be notified and they will incur a one day, in school suspension which will be carried out before graduation. If senior boys show up the morning of graduation and are not in compliance, they will NOT be allowed to participate in commencement exercises. {Mr. Namba}
