The school day begins at 7:45 a.m. and ends at 2:45 p.m. The seven class periods of approximately 45 minutes each have five minutes passing time between them, with a 15 minute morning break and a 40 minute lunch. Occasionally the bell schedule is altered to allow for special interest clubs, chapel, and semester exams.

Athletic practices and games are scheduled after school as are some of the performing arts. More than 50% of HBA's secondary students are involved in interscholastic sports. Another 20% are involved in intramural sports, performing arts, and other clubs. Although special interest club meetings are scheduled within the regular school day once a month, other groups such as student council, National Honor Society, Servant Group, and service clubs may meet during lunch and before or after school.

Breakfast, hot lunch, and snacks may be purchased on campus. Only seniors are allowed to leave campus for lunch.

Parking is available for a fee for student cars as long as Handbook rules are followed.

In 2007-2008, HBA will implemented a modified dress standard. Clothing must be purchased from Mills, Inc. Covered shoes will be required.
