The HBA girls varsity volleyball team won its third consecutive HHSAA Girls Volleyball Division II State Championship Saturday, October 31st by defeating Word of Life 25-22, 25-14, 19-25, 25-16 at the University of Hawaii Stan Sheriff Center. HBA defeated Seabury Hall in the 2007 final and Word of Life in the 2008 final.
The win capped a long but successful campaign for the Eagles (21-2). HBA began the season on July 27th and participated in three preseason tournaments - the Kauai Challenge, the Iolani Ann Kang Invitational and the Kamehameha Hawaii Volleyball Invitational. Then, after opening league play with a 6-2 record, they finished the year by winning 15 straight matches, including an upset of eventual Division I State Champion Kamehameha at Kamehameha on September 29th.

Taryn Bohan, senior outside hitter
C’era Oliveira and junior setter
Kayla Kawamura. Senior outside hitter
Sarah Palmer was named the tourney’s Most Outstanding Player for the third consecutive year. All four players, along with five other teammates, are Daughters of HBA (have attended HBA since kindergarten).
