HBA’s Palmer Repeats As Gatorade Winner
Senior Sarah Palmer has been named the Gatorade Hawaii Volleyball Player of the Year
Senior Sarah Palmer has been named the Gatorade Hawaii Volleyball Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.
Now in it’s 25th year, the award recognizes not only athletic excellence, but also high academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the court. It distinguishes Palmer as Hawaii’s best high school volleyball player.
The 5-foot-10 senior outside hitter led the Eagles to a 34-11-2 overall record and their third consecutive Division II state title this past season. She recorded 484 kills, 399 digs and 42 service aces while posting a kill percentage of .430. She was also named the State Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player for the third straight year and the Honolulu Star-Bulletin State Player of the Year for the second straight year.
Palmer has maintained a 3.48 GPA in the classroom and has volunteered locally as a preschool teacher and youth volleyball coach in addition to participating in beach clean-up initiatives.
Palmer has signed a National Letter of Intent to play volleyball on scholarship at the University of Texas in the fall of 2010.
