A Fourth Grader Honored for Winning a Calendar Contest
Marisa, a fourth grader at HBA wins a calendar contest sponsored by The Hawaii Council on Economic Education and HawaiiUSA Federal Credit Union
Marisa was acknowledged during morning flag ceremony for
being a winner of the 2008 calendar contest which she entered in third grade. The
Hawaii Council on Economics Education and Hawaii USA Federal Credit Union
sponsor the contest to encourage understanding of basic economic concepts in a
fun and creative way. Using the “Economics Through the Eyes of Children” theme
Marisa designed a drawing on Goods and Services. Her illustration was judged on
accuracy of content as well as on artistic style, and she competed against many
students from grades K through 8. She was awarded a $50.00 U.S. savings bond and a copy of the
calendar that features her illustration.
Marisa is pictured here with her principal, Dr. Ovitt, and current
teacher, Mrs. Rawlings, who presented her with a certificate and lei
from her H.B.A. ohana.
